Characteristics of HSS English Curriculum

  1. Curriculum
  • Primary Literacy Program – Reading and Writing (PLP-R/W) for P1 to P3 students which is conducted by NETs is implemented to build up good English learning foundation for our students.
  • We have employed elements of English drama in P4 to P6 to arouse students’ interests in learning English and enhance their skills in language expression. The drama lessons are co-conducted by a NET and a local teacher.
  1. Reading Programmes
  • We have our own school-based reading programmes. Students can have a variety of learning experiences and exposure to English by joining the extra-reading programmes in our school, e.g. Home-reading (P1-3), Reading-buddy Programme (P.3 & P.4), online reading programmes (P.4-P.6).
  1. NET Scheme and other English Activities
  • To provide a language-rich environment for students, we have two native-speaking teachers to communicate with our students during recesses and lunch breaks. We also provide various kinds of activities, like Drama Class, Cambridge Course, English playgroup, etc., for students. Students have ample opportunity to use English language in the school campus.
